Island of Flavors — Raising a Glass to the World
From September 19 to 21, 2025, the Taiwan International Lifestyle Festival (TILF) will be grandly held in Taipei, gathering both local and international brands to celebrate the art of fine drinking and craftsmanship.
TOMU × Millet Sake: A First Appearance on the International Stage
This year, TOMU, an independent brand from Taiwan, will make its debut with a millet sake crafted with traditional sake-brewing techniques — bringing the authentic taste of the island to the world.
Founder Chao Cheng (Tutu) will personally take the stage on September 21 (Sunday) at 16:00, to share the brand’s philosophy and brewing story.

In a Clear Glass, the Island’s Memory Is Reimagined
Millet was once the grain most closely connected to Taiwanese life, symbolizing harvest, blessings, and sharing. Yet for years, it has been confined to the realm of “traditional specialties,” rarely reinterpreted in a modern context.
TOMU aims to change that. Rooted in sake-brewing craftsmanship, the brand redefines millet — transforming it into a clear yet layered drink. The first sip reveals a clean, pure rice aroma that gradually expands into a smooth and delicate body, offering a feeling that is both familiar and refreshingly new.
The TOMU team describes it simply: We hope to tell a contemporary story of Taiwan through millet.
This is more than a drink — it is a cultural experiment. Each toast becomes a dialogue with the land, and an invitation to bring the island’s memories to the global stage.
The Founder’s Vision — From Taiwan to the World
TOMU’s founder, Chao Cheng, affectionately called Tutu by his friends, grew up in Taitung surrounded by mountains and sea. He understood early on how deeply millet was woven into local life.
As his worldview expanded from Taiwan to the international stage, a single question lingered in his mind: Why must millet remain tied to tradition? Could it also become a new expression of modern style?
That curiosity became the seed of entrepreneurship. TOMU was born as Tutu’s response to the land — to show that millet is not merely a symbol of the past, but a living cultural language capable of shining in the modern and international arena.
The Meaning Behind the Name: 望、山、穗 (TOMU)
The name TOMU (望山穗) embodies three layers of meaning that define the brand’s spirit:
望 | Vision — To look forward and aspire to become “the leader of Taiwan,” allowing the island’s stories to be seen by the world.
山 | Nature — Symbolizing growth and harmony with the land, representing collaboration with local farmers and the nurturing of sustainable goodwill.
穗 | Harvest — The bowed rice ear reflects the humility of Taiwanese people, carrying blessings and abundance within.
These three words form not just a name but a path — reminding the brand to stay grounded with every step it takes.
More Than a Drink — A Shared Experience
This year, TOMU makes its debut at the 2025 Taiwan International Lifestyle Festival, not only showcasing the unique flavor of millet sake but also using this global platform to share the beauty of Taiwan’s terroir with the world.
“One cup for good harvest, two for great fortune” — a playful slogan that captures the brand’s hopes for the future.
Raising a glass is not just about drinking — it’s about sharing and blessing. As the aroma of rice and fruit unfolds on the palate, it also carries the warmth and sincerity of Taiwan to every corner of the world.
Experience TOMU — A Journey of Taste and Culture
At TILF, visitors will do more than taste a drink — they will participate in an experiment of culture and flavor. Each sip of millet sake is an extension of the land; each story shared by the founder reflects a dialogue between the brand and the community.
During the event, TOMU will also present its full product lineup, exploring creative combinations of millet with local flavors such as fruits and tea, turning drinking into a true exchange of culture.
